UNISA ICT REFURBISHMENT PROJECT – CVW BUILDING, MUCKLENEUK CAMPUS
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Inkspired was appointed to lead the strategic redesign and refurbishment of the UNISA ICT Department offices at the CvW Building, Muckleneuk Campus. This ambitious project is aimed at transforming outdated, underutilized office spaces into state-of-the-art work environments that support modern ICT operations and evolving workforce needs.
Through a multi-phased design approach, the project focused on optimizing spatial efficiency, enhancing digital security, and enabling flexible, future-proof workspace configurations. The existing infrastructure across multiple floors was reimagined to accommodate departmental relocations, executive offices, shared services, and collaborative workspaces.
Key Deliverables & Scope Highlights:
- Modernized Open-Plan Layouts: Introduction of agile, open-plan workspaces tailored for cross-functional collaboration and improved staff productivity.
- Dedicated Executive and Supervisor Zones: Floors restructured to align with hierarchical workflow – Floor 4 for executive offices; Floors 1–3 for supervisors and team operations.
- Smart Security Integration: Establishment of a secure digital operations centre with CCTV monitoring, 24/7 surveillance, and restricted compliance zones for sensitive data handling.
- Enhanced Infrastructure & Accessibility: Demolition of obsolete internal walls and reallocation of storage to create a seamless, secure, and inclusive working environment.
- Workspace Flexibility: Integration of hot-desking, touchdown spaces, and video conferencing zones to support hybrid and remote working models.
Outcome & Vision
This refurbishment not only rejuvenates the CvW Building but also reflects UNISA’s commitment to innovation, digital transformation, and employee well-being. By enhancing security, operational flow, and design flexibility, the project positions the university’s ICT Department at the forefront of smart office environments in higher education.
